What this product is used for
Intermediate glass-edge polishing on straight-line edging and double-edging machines to refine diamond-wheel marks and prepare the edge for final polishing.
Cooling-water checks for stable BK wheel polishing
A newly installed BK wheel can still leave severe edge defects when the wheel specification and machine parameters are correct. If the wheel becomes unusually hot, inspect the cooling system before changing pressure or feed. In one troubleshooting case, the water pipe had been knocked out of position during wheel replacement, so the water no longer reached the polishing surface.
Insufficient water can overheat a BK wheel within a short time. The polishing surface may burn, cutting action can fall sharply, and the heated glass edge becomes more vulnerable to deep marks and chipping. This is a process and cooling problem rather than evidence that the wheel hardness or grit is necessarily incorrect.
After restoring the water pipe and confirming an even flow across the wheel, the edge defects disappeared and wheel temperature returned to normal. Before restarting production, verify water direction, flow, wheel rotation, spindle condition and the complete grinding and polishing sequence.
